A Resource for School Nurses
The school nurse is the person who knows the students with special diets. If she has a copy of Adam's Gluten Free Surprise in her resource library, she can share this book with the teacher and the classroom in order to help them become more aware of how strict a gluten free diet is and to help them develop empathy for the gluten free student.

The school nurse is also the person who knows all the students' medical backgrounds.
With some education about celiac disease and awareness of symptoms, she could help support parents with children who are exhibiting symptoms and possibly direct them towards testing.

Support groups are sharing copies of 'Adam' with their local schools, school nurses, and libraries.

Support Groups That Are Sharing Adam With Their Local Schools:
GIG Shoreline East donated a variety of children's books to area libraries and elementary schools in 2011.  They included 35 copies of 'Adam' in this amazing way of creating awareness and providing support for local children. Thank you for this fabulous idea and for inspiring other support groups to follow.
(No matter what the celiac related book - this is a wonderful way to use support group funds!)

Thank you Gluten-Free Support Group of Sarasta-Manatee for sharing several copies of 'Adam' with your Sarastota schools!
