This book has several purposes:
First, it was therapeutic for me. I included the nightmare we lived over those first weeks (and beyond) that I omitted from all those CaringBridge posts. I did not share all that we faced at the time because I wanted everyone to envision only complete healing. All those prayers were surely answered! God is good!
Second, I wanted/needed a way to thank all who were our special angels: first responders, ER staff, ICU nurses, doctors, nurses, therapists, technicians, and wonderful friends. There is no way for me to express my gratitude to the extent I feel, but I tried.
Third, to share the power of prayer, the power of family, and the importance of finding reasons to include laughter. Yes, we found reasons to laugh, every day (or almost).
Fourth, I want to share the desperate need for awareness and education about special diets in medical facilities. My son was unable to eat for over ten days. When his jaw was finally able to be fixed and he could eat, food was greatly limited. And even though I shared (often) that he required a gluten free diet, he was offered food with gluten (and even ate food with gluten once in rehab!.) This struggle was included in my book, along with the inspiration of his amazing healing. I think about the hundreds and thousands who must endure hospital stays without appropriate or safe food. This is a very real problem!
Please help share this book with others. Please help me reach those who made such a difference in our lives - to ALL who dedicate their lives to saving the lives of others. They are forever in my heart.
Like I said, I don't have the "celebrity" to get the word out, but I do have you! Thank you :)
